Charity based digital engagement

This began when I found myself out of work after my contract with Barclays ended. Like many, I struggled to find a job and saw numerous others on LinkedIn in the same situation.

It became clear that many highly skilled individuals couldn’t find employment. AI CV tools, professional ghosting, and the overwhelming number of applicants meant many qualified candidates didn’t even make it past the first application stage. Companies received over 1,000 applications per role, unable to manage the volume.

So, a group of us decided to take action.

Challenge

Our primary goal was to create a positive force by connecting like-minded, forward-thinking individuals and increasing visibility for those seeking new roles. We aimed to engage professional digital participants, charities, non-profits, recruiters, and hiring managers to meet and observe candidates in action.

Approach

We started with a LinkedIn post seeking collaborators, which gained significant traction. The founders, Dan Murat, Ty-John Roberts, and I discussed various concepts and potential actions. With support from Red Badger, Virgin, and Adobe for meeting space, we began reaching out to recruiters and our network to share with charities and non-profits. Cyclopark provided our first project brief.

We set up an Eventbrite page, and our initiative took off.

Outcomes

We built a dedicated team of exceptional digital professionals, delivered over 50 items for client consideration and the team was commended for their output and willingness to participate at their own expense. We have experienced an increased social media engagement and sharing of our idea, engaged new professionals for more workshops and all of our participants have seen increased connections with recruiters.

Next stage...

The team are now working towards the next workshop (virtual and on-site) with cycloparks, at which we will agree, realise and deliver project outcomes.

A new set of workshops, participants and clients is being drawn togehter, extending the reach of this initiative to more digital workers.
